Armed violence is one of the main obstacles for human development. Its impact on the wellbeing of the people and communities as well as its negative effect on the institutions and the economy makes the reduction of armed violence a priority for public development policy.

From a human security perspective CERAC pursues studies seeking increased understanding of the characteristics of armed violence, its impact, the ambits in which it occurs and the efficiency of the interventions designed to reduce the violence, both at national and local level.
